Odunlade takes the health insurance campaign to markets, to parks
Odunlade Adekola, a popular actor and ambassador for the Ogun Health Insurance Scheme, recently visited some big markets and car parks in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, to raise people’s awareness of the importance of a health insurance scheme, the Nigeria News Agency reports.
The actor was welcomed by the Ogun State Governor’s Special Advisor on Health, Dr. Tayo Lawal, accompanied; the executive secretary of the Ogun State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Afolabi Dosumu; and other government officials.
Encouraging people to embrace the scheme, Odunlade said Governor Dapo Abiodun’s investment in the health sector would help them, regardless of their occupation, if they get sick.
He added that the monthly payment of N1,000 per person and N4,000 for a family of six would help speed government efforts to achieve universal health coverage.
He said: “None of us pray for illness, but as we get older we tend to have some inherent health problems that require care.
“With the monthly payment of N1,000 per person and N4,000 for a family of six, you don’t have to run from post to post to access healthcare.
The team visited the districts of Kuto Market, Sapon, Omida, Itoku, Lafenwa and Oke-Ilewo.
For his part, Dosumu noted that the roadshow would be repeated in all four zones of the state, including Yewa, Ijebu and Remo.
