NorthWest Senior & Disability Services Helps People Enroll in Medicare | Messages Free
Will you be 65 soon? Learn how to enroll in Medicare from the comfort of your home or office! We’re here to help you manage the complexities of Medicare and avoid penalties for late registrations. Maybe you are eligible for Medicare because of a disability? This event is for you too.
During the pandemic, the State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIPs) provide local, trusted, and unbiased Medicare assistance in a safe and socially detached manner. For this reason, NorthWest Senior & Disability Services is partnering with the SHIP National Technical Assistance Center at the Welcome to Medicare Virtual Fair on June 23, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Participate for as long as you want. Visit www.shiphelp.org for more information, to see the agenda, and to register.
This event is funded by the government and it is free to attend. You can attend part or all of the event. There will be general sessions with experienced speakers on Medicare eligibility, enrollment, costs and coverage options. In the general sessions we offer subtitles in English and a live transcript in Spanish. During this event, you can visit country-specific virtual exhibits at any time. Chat with us about how our program can help you with your unique Medicare enrollment questions. Visit us from your computer or mobile device anytime between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM Eastern Time.
NorthWest Senior & Disability Services is part of the national SHIP network funded by the US Administration for Community Living, Office of Healthcare Information and Counseling. In Oregon, SHIP is called SHIBA. Regardless of name, government health insurance assistance programs share a national mission: to enable Medicare-eligible individuals to educate and support their families and caregivers through objective contact, advice and training to make informed health insurance decisions that optimize access to maintain and benefit.
SHIP experts explain who is eligible for Medicare and when, how to enroll for Medicare, and what to do if you’re still working when you are eligible for Medicare. They will also discuss Medicare costs, specifically the importance of avoiding penalties for late registrations. You will learn how to navigate your Medicare coverage options and how Medicare works with other insurances such as Employer Insurance, Medigap Supplementary Insurance, and Retiree Insurance.
Please feel free to visit our SHIBA exhibit at any time, where we can help you think about what to consider in your individual Medicare registration decisions or when helping a friend or loved one make a Medicare registration decision. You can also watch short pre-recorded videos on aspects of Medicare or download educational materials.
The event concludes with national speakers discussing the role of the federal government in Medicare, preventing Medicare fraud, and the Medicare assistance programs available to help meet Medicare costs.
Visit www.shiphelp.org to register and see more event details.
You don’t have to wait for this event to get Medicare help from our program. To find out more about SHIBA, please call our SHIBA hotline at 503 304-3479.
