MSU Board of Directors meets, approves employee health insurance at no cost increase

Three regents were sworn in during the Morehead State Board of Regents meeting on Thursday, August 4 at the Adron Doran University Center (ADUC).


Student Government Association President Chloe Marstiller, Laura Prater Russell and Craig Preece were sworn in by Circuit Court Judge David Barber. The Regents elected Eric Howard chairman, Sanford Holbrook vice-chairman, Jane Fitzpatrick secretary, and appointed Mary Fister-Tucker treasurer.



The Board of Regents recognized MSU General Counsel Jane Fitzpatrick, Dr. Koourush Jenab, assistant professor of engineering and technology management, and student Zack Holbrook, a biomedical student from Hazard.


The board heard a report on university initiatives for 2022-23, including a variety of contracts and reports, revisions to the police/emergency operations manual, a new student code of conduct and tenure proposals. Approved projects include campus maintenance funding for network and Wi-Fi infrastructure replacement, a new roof for the Mignon Tower, and the replacement of outdoor stairs at the Alumni Tower. The board also heard a presentation on 2023 employee health insurance plans that do not include an increase in employee bonus costs for calendar year 2023.

The board also signed an acknowledgment of thanks for outgoing Regent Terri Walters.


Regents will meet September 19-20 for the Post-Secondary Education Council Trusteeship Conference and Council Meeting.
