Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Coordinator (f/m) – Ukraine – Ukraine

For more than 40 years, Médecins du Monde, a medical organization committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. It has continued to identify barriers to access to healthcare and has ensured sustained improvements in healthcare for all.

The staff of this independent organization not only provide care and treatment, but also condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve the situation of population groups living in vulnerable situations.

MdM is currently working in 30 countries on all continents, where it focuses on 5 priority areas: Emergencies and Crises, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Harm Reduction, Migrants and Displaced Persons (Health Rights), Health and Environment.

MdM-France is currently conducting an fact-finding mission in Odessa and Mikolayev oblasts to assess the needs of people affected by the conflict in Ukraine.

MdM-F plans to open a country office in Odessa and start activities in southern Ukraine (Odessa-Mikolayev).

MdM Spain is leading the global MdM response in Ukraine, covering Kyiv and Surroundings, Donbass, Kharkiv and Zaporidja. MdM Germany covers Dnipro and Vinitsia. MdM France will cover the southern part of Ukraine.


Under the supervision of the General Coordinator and as part of the Mission Inauguration, your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Design MHPSS activities based on on-site field assessments, gap analysis and actor mapping in accordance with international standards and MdM MHPSS frameworks
  • Support the integration of social and psychological considerations into programming, assess needs and design activities in a cross-sectoral approach and work closely with other sectors
  • Ensuring the strategic management of the MHPSS program component in Ukraine
  • Ensuring the supervision of the MHPSS teams to monitor the quality of the services provided
  • Participate in the recruitment of personnel under your professional responsibility
  • Training, support and provision of guidelines and tools to relevant staff in dealing with refugees and volunteers/medical staff working with refugees
  • Train relevant staff on the referral system and reporting tools
  • Ensure reporting by collecting data from the different bases and providing analysis
  • Ensuring close coordination with UN agencies, NGOs, local MHPSS partners and local authorities in the MdM intervention area

  • Contract : Temporary contract
  • Duration : 6 months
  • Entry date: as soon as possible
  • Gross monthly salary: 2940 euros
  • Position in Odessa, with regular trips to different locations in the country.
  • Bonus equal to one month’s salary paid in two installments – minimum 6 month tenure required

  • Mental Health Professional
  • A Masters in Public Health is desirable
  • Minimum 1 year work experience in MHPSS programs in humanitarian emergencies/context with both individual counseling and psychosocial support activities
  • Experience in building local partnerships
  • Training in the transcultural approach is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of public health issues
  • Good training skills
  • Ability to build relationships with communities
  • Ability to create tools and monitoring processes
  • Previous supervisory and managerial experience
  • Proven pedagogical and psychological-technical expertise
  • Understanding the integrated approach in MHPSS is mandatory (overarching approach)
