Day of Heroes and First Responders in Healthcare
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (NEWS10) – The New York Racing Association honored local frontline workers for their dedication and service to the community during the Covid-19 pandemic during Health Care Heroes and First Responders Day presented by CDPHP . The day included free entry to the stands for all health professionals and first aiders with appropriate ID.
The celebrations began with the singing of the national anthem by Raymond Agnew of Glens Falls Hospital.
In the afternoon, a special performance by the New York State Troopers Pipes and Drums as they marched across the apron to the winners’ circle. All members of the band were formed in 1997 and are active or retired New York State Police.
First responders and frontline workers are honored with their two races, which are dedicated in their honor.
But the festivities don’t stop after Friday, the frontline workers are celebrated all season through the CDPHP Hometown Hero program.
Each Friday of the 2021 Summer Meeting, beginning July 23, NYRA and CDPHP will recognize a metropolitan area resident for serving the community during the Covid-19 pandemic. Every NYRA Hometown Hero, presented by CDPHP, will have the opportunity to present the trophy to the winners’ circle during an afternoon race.
